There’s something interesting about your question. Drug companies sometimes create drugs to deal with problems that aren’t problems yet. Like creating a drug to deal with eating and then calling obesity a genetic disease- something like that. So- what if drug companies created a drug to deal with stress? Would the APA then decide that stress is a curable disorder?
Here’s something else? When is something normal and not a disorder at all? For example- there are so many people on anti-depressant medication today? Everyone gets sad and the medicine is for those few who actually have a "disorder", but when does a "disorder" start and "normal" sadness begin? Humans are meant to feel- sad, angry, stress- it’s our body’s way to let us know we need to slow down and deal with something. Maybe some of the things we medicate for today aren’t "disorders" but normal life. Will stress be like this? It’s an interesting question and only time will tell.
